About AmericanWriters.com

A few years ago, I edited and co-wrote AmericanWriters.com eZine (ISSN 1534-9209). The eZine will return to this website soon enough, once I have dusted it off and redesigned it.

I am now spending most of my energy creating the new site, the Podcast at AmericanWriters.com and an anthology of original fiction. Each new Podcast show will be made available on this site every Sunday and you can subscribe to it via any number of Podcast delivery systems. Personally, I prefer iTunes, and recommend it to you. It's free, and you can get it, as well as the Podcast, by clicking on the iTunes subscription icon. But let's face it -- you should already have iTunes on your computer. If you don't, consider yourself duly admonished. (Please note, this is not an iTunes advertisement.)

The Podcast focuses on the creative writing process. This includes, but is not limited to, the development of character and character relationships, description, tone, dialogue, narrative perspective, conflict, figurative language and plot. I also addresses the topics of inspiration, strategy, storyboarding and writer's block. It seems that different writers handle each of these in very distinct ways. There is no single answer -- but I will give each of these topics (and related topics) deep consideration throughout the life of the Podcast. For whatever it is worth, I will tell you what seems to work best for me and I will interview other writers to find out what works for them. Ultimately, you need to make your own determination for where you stand, but the discussion is worth joining.

Please subscribe to the Podcast and get others to subscribe as well. I hate talking to myself -- and I'd hate to be wearing these silly headphones for no reason.

Regards,

Tom
